Your details, handled like house money

This policy explains what Roo & Emu Bistro Pty Ltd collects when you book a table, a room or a hall, how we use it, and how to get it deleted. Last updated in January 2026.

The Short Version

Four house rules for your data

We're a bistro, not a data broker. These rules apply to everything we collect, online and on the floor.

RULE 01

Collect only what the booking needs

Name, contact details, party size and dietary notes. Nothing else, no "optional" phone-home widgets.

RULE 02

Use it for the visit only

Your details serve your reservation and nothing else. No lists, no resale, no "partners".

RULE 03

Keep it locked

Bookings live in an access-controlled system; paper dockets are locked in the office safe nightly.

RULE 04

Delete on request

Ask and we remove your records within 30 days, keeping only what law requires.

What We Collect

The booking ledger, in full

FROM THE WEBSITE

Booking form details

Name, email, optional phone, preferred date, party size and your message — used solely to arrange and confirm your booking.

ON THE FLOOR

Gaming lounge records

Licensed venues in WA require ID checks for entry to the salon. We record verification status only, never copies of your documents.

TECHNICAL

Cookies & server logs

Standard server logs and the preference cookies described on our Cookie Policy page.

What we never do We don't sell, rent or trade personal information, and we don't run third-party advertising trackers on this site. Full stop.
How We Use It

Four jobs, that's all

01

Arranging your booking

Confirming tables, rooms, hall hire and private events — by email or phone, whichever you gave us.

02

Meeting licence obligations

Gaming and liquor laws in WA require us to verify age and keep certain floor records.

03

House accounting

Invoices, deposits and refunds — kept as law requires, then destroyed.

04

Replying to you

Answering questions, feedback and press requests you send us first.

Your Rights

You hold the cards

Wherever you live, we extend the same set of rights: see your data, correct it, take it with you, or have it deleted. Australian Privacy Principles set our floor standard; GDPR-level rights are honoured for EU visitors too.

Ask for Any of It
AccessA copy of everything we hold about you, within 30 days.
CorrectionWrong spelling, old number — fixed the same week.
DeletionErased within 30 days, minus what law requires us to keep.
ObjectionTell us to stop a use of your data and we will, where law allows.
Retention & Security

How long we keep things

Booking details live in the reservations system for 24 months, then go. Financial records stay seven years because tax law insists. ID verification logs from the salon are kept 12 months, as the gaming licence requires — and nothing else about your visit is recorded.

Encrypted at rest Booking systems run on encrypted, access-logged infrastructure.
Two pairs of hands Only the reservations desk and the office can reach guest records.
A breach, God forbid If guest data is ever compromised we notify affected guests and the OAIC within 72 hours, in plain English, with what we're doing about it.
